Responsible for design, development, testing and control of materials engineering projects where decisions are made within the limits of general practices and standards.  Provides technical direction and guidance to engineering support personnel.   

Job Responsibilities: 

• Review and process engineering documents per global procedures and guidelines  
• Provide recommendations to engineering and manufacturing on materials and processes
• Generate and maintain material specifications
• Prepare and process material related test activity reports
• Conducts problem solving, and provides laboratory analytical support on materials and processes for manufacturing, engineering, and customers to resolve and prevent problems 
• Gathers and analyzes data and writes related reports and procedures as directed by senior materials personnel
• Assists in design and analysis or research on engineering projects
• Frequently exchanges information with others outside the work group 

Additional responsibilities: 

• Procures samples for test set up and materials test programs
• Designs and builds test fixtures for materials characterization
• Sets up and operates test devices and measurement tools
• Conducts materials and related processing testing
• Maintains safety, good housekeeping standards, and quality system certification 

• Education:  Bachelors Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or an equivalent technical degree.  
• 2 years of experience with materials engineering development activities ( familiarity testing will be additional advantage)
• Understanding of materials related to engineering theory and principles of design
• Knowledge of metallic materials and their characteristics
• Analytical ability where problems /processes are somewhat complex
• Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations
• Familiarity with basic hand and machine tools
• Ability to use common measurement tools and techniques
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
• Highly motivated with the ability to work independently
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools, with emphasis on Excel, Word and Powerpoint
• Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, collaborative IT tools for sharing information across the enterprise.
